On Thursday, March 9th, members of the Gumeracha Soldiers Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Torrens Valley Lion’s Club and the Top of the Torrens Players were invited to the Gumeracha Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for afternoon tea to thank them for redecorating the TV Lounge Room.
This has been a great way for members of the community to work together.
The auxiliary raised a record amount of $18,000 last year and some of this was used to purchase 6 Club Chairs in mauve and green washable suede, a book case and 2 delightful landscape pictures with the Top of the Torrens Players donating a further 2 pictures.
The auxiliary also furnished a table and 4 chairs, which are set in a corner overlooking the colourful back garden.
The Lion’s Club very generously offered to paint the room in soft mauve colourings and install a rub rail.
The final effect is very pleasing and is colour coordinated with the floral curtains supplied by the Hospital.
The room now has a much more homely feel to it.
Well done ladies and gentlemen!!
The next fund raiser for the auxiliary will be catering for the Antique Fair, which will be held at the Gumeracha Hall on the weekend of 27th and 28th of May, when 20 stalls will show antique items inside the hall and the auxiliary will serve soup, sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee from the canteen over the two days.
This will be a very big event in the antique world and should be a great money spinner for the auxiliary.
The time and effort involved is an indication of how the community values the services provided by their local Hospital.
