The Hill’s Band Festival brings nine great Hill’s bands together in one big concert. Community, town and school bands come together in July to perform jazz, swing, pop, big brass and classical for anyone who loves music!
The Festival will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 12.30pm to 5pm at the Lobethal Centennial Hall, Main Street, Lobethal. It features performances by; Adelaide Hills Concert Band, Cornerstone College, Hahndorf Town Band, Minor Magic, Mt Barker District Concert Band, Murray Bridge Concert Band, Tea Tree Gully Concert Band, St Johns Grammar School and Trinity College.
The Hills Band Festival includes a 25 minute performance by each of the participating bands as well as guest artists. The afternoon’s entertainment is a fairly casual affair with tea, coffee, refreshments and snacks available in the hall. Now in its fourth year, the annual festival has become a major fundraiser for the Adelaide Hills Concert Band, who hosts the event.
Andrew Size, who is the president of the Adelaide Hills Concert Band, hopes that this type of event will benefit all bands in the Adelaide Hills region. “Community bands consist of many volunteer musicians of all ages and backgrounds, with a common love of music. They play an important role in entertaining local communities at various functions and events,†said Andrew.
“This festival fosters the relationship between school and community bands, and gives participating musicians of all ages an opportunity to perform together in their own community. Also, the Tea Tree Gully Concert band is participating for the first time this year and we look forward to a great performance from them.â€
If you love music, particularly the fantastic sound of live brass and concert bands, come along for the afternoon and join in the festival. What better way to spend a winter’s Sunday than to the sound of brass, wind and rhythm!
