Founders Day 2007 will be a day not to be missed!

There will be music, entertainment, food, games, displays, wine tasting, many stalls and much more!
Amos Howard, the discoverer of subterranean clover, is the featured Founder for 2007.

Please note the road will be closed from Millers Arms drive-in to Cockburn Street from 10am to 4pm to allow for set up and pull down.

The day will start with a parade at 11am from Jeffrey Street to Junction Street led by a piper.
All people wearing period costume are asked to walk in the parade at 11am.

This will be followed by a formal welcome and opening in Junction Street near the Old Gum Tree Stump which was the town’s original meeting place.

“Daily Jazz” will be the featured musical group along with a Scottish Piper.
Conducted Historic Walks will be provided and the Nairne Lions will have their usual Sausage Sizzle with the Main Street shops also providing a range of delicious food.

Howard Winery will be providing tastings of their wines with some available to have with lunch.
There will be over 30 stalls including produce, gifts, food and information.

The NACC will be offering to take a heritage photo of you dressed (apparently) in period costume for a small charge.

There will be displays of quilting, art and heritage photos from Amos Howard’s time and before, including a feature on Amos himself hosted by Alan Sargent, a local resident who lived in Nairne in the early 1900s.
Adelaide Fringe artist, Steve London, will give a show and do walk acts around the event.

Susanne Handel, harpist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, will perform with an ensemble in the Institute.
There will be free face painting all day and a raffle with great prizes will be drawn at 2.30pm with tickets available on the day.

The Nairne Heritage Trail will be in great demand and for $5 you get a passport to be stamped, a collection bag and, by visiting the various locations listed, you will collect nearly $50 worth of items donated by local businesses, including food, cinema, train and other vouchers.

This is fantastic value and we expect these to sell quickly.
There will be only 200 bags available and those completing the whole trail will be given a ticket in the draw for a $200 Robotic development Kit.

Cedric the Dragon is coming to the Adelaide Hills!

Four quilters from the Woodpatch Quilters’ Group in Woodside have been busy stitching a banner of Cedric the Dragon for the forthcoming Gumeracha Medieval Fair, to be held on the weekend of May 4th and 5th, 2007 in Gumeracha Federation Park.

Designer, Val Giles, and co-quilters, Chris Adley, Judy Collins and Ann Riddle took up the challenge of putting the Fair’s logo, Cedric, into a quilted banner, which will be a focal point of the Fair – leading the Medieval Parade and taking pride of place in the centre of the Park during the Fair weekend.

Pam Hale, Secretary of the Gumeracha Medieval Fair Management Committee, said that the organisers are very impressed with the quilters’ talents and appreciative of their hard work in making the banner.
“This will add colour and spectacle to the Fair, along with the many knights, ladies, craft merchants, and artisans in the Medieval Village.”
