You are invited to attend the Barossa Valley Classic Motorcycle club’s 22nd Annual One Day Rally on Sunday, October 15th at the Williamstown Oval.
This is one of the biggest one day motorbike events in South Australia with regular interstate and international visitors.
If you want to see classic Norton’s, Ariel’s, Royal Enfields, Harley Davidson’s, Moto Guzzi’s, Triumphs, BSA’s, Douglas’, Brough Superiors, Indians, Panthers, Scotts, Ducatis, Sunbeams and Vincent’s then this is a day not to miss in the Australian motorcycle calendar.
The club began in 1984 with an advertisement in the Leader asking like minded Classic Bikers to join together in regular social gatherings.
It was the brainchild of Tony Codrington (now a life member) who ran the original ad. titled “Attention Classic Bike Loversâ€.
The clubs first ride in 1984 included a 1942 Harley, 1951 Matchless, 1951/52 Triumphs and a couple of 1964 BSA’s and went from Tanunda to Birdwood and back again.
All makes, years and models of motorcycles are invited to join the 2006 Rally – you don’t need to have a classic bike to ride in the rally.
A run of approximately 95km will leave the site at 9.30am and maps will be available at registration from 8.30am.
For those with classic motorcycles, who would like to participate in the awards, registration is required.
A morning tea stop will be included in the run and there will be signs, marshalls, tail-end marshalls and recovery vehicles provided along the way.
Once back at the Williamstown oval, all bikes registered for judging will be lined up in the centre of the oval for spectators and judges alike to view at leisure.
A three course lunch will be served in the clubrooms from 12.30pm and the bar will be open all day.
Awards will be presented for the following categories: The best pre 1960’s bike, the best post 1960’s, Peoples’ choice, Committees’ Choice and Presidents’ Choice.
And with free entry, it’s a great day out for a family picnic too, so lets see you down at the Williamstown oval!
