The Woodside Lutheran Church hosted a Wine and Cheese Appreciation Night on July 29th at the Woodside Institute.
Approximately 85 people attended and enjoyed an evening of wine tasting, cheeses, gourmet goodies, guest speakers and live music.
The evening started with a glass of champagne and a quick look at the wines on offer.
Wineries represented on the night were Shaw & Smith, Bird In Hand, Pike & Joyce and Middleton Estate wines bottled by the Woodside Lutheran Church.
Bird In Hand also provided some delicious olives and oils for tastings.
Spring Smoked Salmon spoiled us with gourmet dips and salmon tastings that proved very popular.
Providore (Woodside Café) supplied the guests with gourmet delights including local cheeses.
The Woodside Lutheran Church Ladies Guild supplied some amazing home made treats such as chutneys, jams, pickles and so much more.
Cheese and crackers were made readily available all night to go with the wine tastings.
Local photographer/artist, “Mark Duncanâ€, displayed some of his immaculate work which was admired by all.
Those who attended enjoyed listening to a ‘wine expert’, poetry recitals, entertaining anecdotes and live music by the Woodside Lutheran Church band.
This fun, entertaining evening with great atmosphere was just the recipe for a successful ‘wine and cheese night’.
The night was held to raise funds for the Church’s new toilet facilities and kitchen upgrade.
The current toilets are still located outside and hopefully in the ‘new year’ will be incorporated into the current church complex and make life easier during inclement weather.
The kitchen upgrade will bring a fresh new look and practical approach to food preparation.
A big thankyou to everybody who helped make the event happen and especially to those who attended on the night.
The Woodside Lutheran Church still has wine available, so if you are interested please see Trevor at the Woodside Newsagency or phone 8389 7441.
Cab/Sav – $8.50, Shiraz – $8.00, Riesling – $8.00.
